Angelica archangelica is one of the rare medicinal plant coming from northern countries. We can find it in Russia, Lithuania, Norway, Iceland, Greenland... It was used as a life-saving food.

It is said that an Archangel Raphaël appeared to a monk to reveal its healing virtues for curing the plague. It was then considered as one of the most powerful herbs and was given the name of "Root of the Holy Ghost". Indeed the plant seems to cure almost everything and is considered to be a great defense against evil spirits.

Angelica would be under the protection of Archangel Michael because it blooms on his feast day, May 8th on the old Julian Calendar.
